Avenged Sevenfold (also known as "The White Album" because of the cover) is the fourth studio album by the American metal band Avenged Sevenfold .

Originally announced for October 16, 2007, the album was released two weeks late on October 30. This was justified with the additional production time required to complete the bonus material and the animated video for the song A Little Piece of Heaven .

The album debuted at number 4 on the US Billboard 200 album chart . On September 23, 2008, Avenged Sevenfold was awarded gold by the RIAA . The band promoted the album with a tour beginning one day before the release and ending in 2009.

It is the last full album with James "The Rev" Sullivan , who passed away on December 28, 2009, just two weeks before the start of recordings for Avenged Sevenfold's follow-up album Nightmare . His voice can be heard in all songs.

Despite initially mixed reviews compared to previous releases, the album won the Kerrang! Award for Best Album 2008. It was also included in Kerrang's list of 666 albums You Must Hear Before You Die .
