history

Black Tide was founded in Miami , Florida in 2004 by Gabriel Garcia, then only 10 years old, and his friend three years older. To complete the band, two other friends were asked; 14-year-old Zachary Sandler took over bass and Steven Spence, who was 15 when it was founded, took over drums. First the band rehearsed under the simple band name "Radio". After a while this was changed to "Black Tide" to show that the band members had gotten older. The band played a few small concerts and took part in several talent shows. In 2005 the band got a 1 year record deal with Atlantic Records , which they accepted. First the band switched to EMI , then to Interscope Records.

The band recorded the single Shockwave , which is available, among other things, as a download for the video game Rock Band . Black Tide started touring and were able to convince on the second big stage at the Ozzfest , but they were later removed from the program because the Ozzfest was sponsored by Jägermeister and all members were not yet of legal age. Black Tide now played as the opening act for bands such as Lordi , Static-X , Lamb of God and Ozzy Osbourne .

In 2007 the band went back to the studio. Together with their producer they recorded twelve songs, including a Metallica cover song; Hit the Lights , originally featured on the 1983 album Kill 'Em All . Eventually the album was released on March 18, 2008 under the title Light from Above . Her debut album received many good reviews, including from Revolver Magazine and Blabbermouth . With 11,400 copies sold in the first week, the album reached number 73 on the US Billboard 200 . On March 27, the group recorded their first single, Shockwave, on the night show Jimmy Kimmel , and a video was also made for the song. After the Download Festival, guitarist Alex Nuñez split from Black Tide and was replaced by Austin Diaz.
