The All-American Rejects are an American rock group from Stillwater , Oklahoma .
Band history
The band was formed in 1998 by then high school students Tyson Ritter and Nick Wheeler during a party. Initially, the band played at smaller events in Stillwater .
The band name is derived from the line of text "So when the smoke clears here I am, your reject all-American" from the song "Reject" by the band Green Day .
In the spring of 2000, they released their first independently produced album, Same Girl, New Songs , with which they built a fan base that was localized.
After the end of their tour in 2001, they signed a contract with the Doghouse Records label .
In 2002 the debut album was released again. It has been sold over 1,000,000 times and achieved platinum status . The album also features Swing, the most famous song by the band Swing until the chart success in 2008/2009 . Since this was the band's only major success until 2005, they were often referred to as a one-hit wonder .
In 2005 their second album Move Along was released , which they released on the DreamWorks label. The first two singles from this album, Dirty Little Secret , which was carried over into Pro Evolution Soccer 2010 , and Move Along , both made it into the US charts. The music video for Move Along was named the winner in the "Best Group Video" category at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards .
On December 16, 2008 her new album When the World Comes Down was released in America . The first single Gives you Hell made it to number 15 in the German single charts, which is why The All-American Rejects also achieved their breakthrough in Germany. The single is the most played song on the radio (as of May 2009). The second single was The Wind Blows in the United States and I Wanna in Germany, which has not yet been able to build on the success of the first single. The third single to be released in the United States is Real World , and in Germany The Wind Blows .
On February 27, 2011, the band recorded their fourth album, Kids in the Street , which was released the following year.
