Band history

The band was founded in 1999 after the breakup of the band Perfectly Normal . The original bassist Mark Bowser was replaced by Chris Slorach, who left the band after the release of The Theory of Harmonial Value . Erik Hughes later became the band's permanent bassist.

Moneen released their first two albums on Smallman Records and later on Vagrant Records . Smallman Records still sells their albums in Canada. In 2005 they released a split EP with Alexisonfire on Dine Alone Records . Each band covered two of the others' songs and recorded their own song. Her next album The Red Tree was released in Germany on June 2, 2006.

In 2005, director Alex Liu followed the band through the recording process of their next album to document it. The result is included on the 2008 DVD : The Moneen DVD: It All Started with a Red Stripe .

In early 2009 the band was in the studio for several weeks to record their next album ("The World I Want to Leave Behind").
