history
Excavations in the 19th century suggest that the area around Bouzemont was settled early. Artifacts from the Celtic and Gallo-Roman times are kept in the Musée Départemental in Épinal . Bouzemont was on the Roman road from Corre in the Saône valley to Charmes on the Moselle . The place appears for the first time in a document in 1015. Another written testimony from 1065 named the village of Bosonis Mons . There are suspicions that the name goes back to Boso , the real or legendary progenitor of the bosonids . The area around Bouzemont was part of the diocese of Langres and came under Bishop Gosselin to the diocese of Toul in the 10th century . From 1310 Bouzemont belonged in equal parts to the Dukes of Lorraine and the Chapter St. Gangolf in Toul . After the dissolution of the Diocese of Toul in 1777, Bouzemont became part of the Diocese of Saint-Dié .
