history

The place Ambacourt appears for the first time in a document in 1051 as part of the Chaumousey Abbey . The existence of a church in the village was first recorded in 1119. During the Middle Ages, Ambacourt was also dependent on the bailiwick in Mirecourt . The residents' taxes amounted to oats, wheat and poultry (one hen each for St. Martin ).

In 1714 Duke Leopold transferred the high jurisdiction to Rene Thieriet , the lord and landowner of Ambacourt

In 1790, Ambacourt first came to the canton of Mirecourt , moved to the canton of Charmes in 1801, and since 1833 it has belonged again to the canton of Mirecourt. The Church of St. Peter was built in 1842 under the auspices of the Abbot of Chaumousey in place of a dilapidated previous building. The parish of Ambacourt is part of the Saintois deanery in the diocese of Saint-Dié. The town hall and school building ( Mairie-école ) was built in 1865.
