The canton of Charmes is a French constituency in the Arrondissement Épinal , in the Département Vosges and in the Grand Est region ; its main place is Charmes .

The canton lies on the northern border of the Vosges department.
history
The canton was established in 1790. By 2015, 26 communities belonged to the canton of Charmes. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes rose to 52 in 2015. In addition to the previous 26 communes, there were communes of the previous cantons of Rambervillers (11 of the 29 communes), Dompaire (8 of the 30 communes) and Châtel-sur-Moselle (7 of the 23 municipalities).

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Charmes included the 26 communes of Avillers , Avrainville , Battexey , Bettoncourt , Bouxurulles , Brantigny , Chamagne , Charmes (main town), Essegney , Évaux-et-Ménil , Florémont , Gircourt-lès- Viéville , Hergugney , Langley , Marainville-sur-Madon , Pont-sur-Madon , Portieux , Rapey , Rugney , Savigny , Socourt , Ubexy , Varmonzey , Vincey , Vomécourt-sur-Madon and Xaronval . Its layout corresponded to an area of 168.16 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 8805.

politics
In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the five voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, Martine Boulliat / Robert Colin (both DVDs) won against Jocelyne Jabrin / Stéphane Perry (both FN ) with a share of the vote of 52.81% (turnout: 52.40%).
