The canton of Le Thillot is a French constituency in the Arrondissement Épinal , in the Département Vosges and in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ); its main town is Le Thillot .

history

The canton was established in 1790. In the period from 1801 to 1860 it was called the canton of Ramonchamp, into which Le Thillot was then incorporated. Until 2015, only eight municipalities belonged to the canton of Le Thillot. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of municipalities rose to 10. In addition to the previous 8 municipalities, 2 of the 11 municipalities of the previous canton of Remiremont (Dommartin-lès-Remiremont and Vecoux) were added.

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the eight municipalities of Bussang , Ferdrupt , Fresse-sur-Moselle , Le Ménil , Le Thillot (main town), Ramonchamp , Rupt-sur-Moselle and Saint-Maurice-sur belonged to the canton of Le Thillot -Moselle . Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​194.45 km ² . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 8827.
