The canton of Vittel is a French canton in the Arrondissements Épinal and Neufchâteau , in the Département Vosges and in the Grand Est region (previously Lorraine ); its main town is Vittel .

The canton is located in the west of the Vosges department.
history
The canton was established in 1790. By 2015, 21 municipalities belonged to the canton of Vittel. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes rose to 45 in 2015. The communes of Aingeville, Aulnois, Auzainvillers, Belmont-sur-Vair, Bulgneville, Crainvillers, Dombrot-sur-Vair, Gendreville, Hagnéville- et-Roncourt, Malaincourt, Mandres-sur-Vair, Médonville, Morville, Norroy, Parey-sous-Montfort, Saint-Ouen-les-Parey, Saint-Remiremont, Saulxures-lès-Bulgnéville, Sauville, Suriauville, Urville, La Vacheresse -et-la-Rouillie, Vaudoncourt and Vrécourt are now part of the canton of Vittel. These 24 municipalities come from the dissolved canton of Bulgnéville .

The canton consists of 45 municipalities with a total of 17,934 inhabitants (as of 2017) on a total area of 422.50 km 2 :
Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Vittel included the 21 municipalities of Bazoilles-et-Ménil , Contrexéville , Dombrot-le-Sec , Domèvre-sous-Montfort , Domjulien , Estrennes , Gemmelaincourt , Haréville , Lignéville , Monthureux-le -Sec , La Neuveville-sous-Montfort , Offroicourt , Rancourt , Remoncourt , Rozerotte , They-sous-Montfort , Thuillières , Valfroicourt , Valleroy-le-Sec , Vittel (main town) and Viviers-lès-Offroicourt . Its layout corresponded to an area of 210.94 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 8828.

politics
In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the four candidate pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, Luc Gerecke / Claudie Pruvost (both DVDs) won against Sébastien Bredard / Jacqueline Coudie (both FN ) with a share of the vote of 66.61% (turnout: 53.11%).
