history

The name of the village first appeared in documents as Angeville in 1276 . The village was then part of the Bourmont Bailiwick . In 1711 half of Aingeville belonged to the Duke of Lorraine and the other half to the Lords of Roncourt and was the seat of a high court . Ecclesiastically, Aingeville was dependent on the abbots in Toul , who received part of the tithe.

Population development

The population of the small community has remained at a low level since the middle of the 20th century. In 1846 there were still 243 residents.
