Fouchécourt is a French commune with 45 inhabitants (January 1, 2017) in the Vosges department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It is part of the Neufchâteau arrondissement and the Vosges Côté Sud Ouest community association founded in 2017 .

geography

The municipality is located 30 kilometers southwest of Vittel in the extreme southwest of the historic Lorraine region . Northwest of the community runs the Maas - Saône - watershed . The rivers in the municipal area of 4.66 km² (Duron Rupt, Ruisseau de la Fontaine au Fer) drain south-east to the upper Saône. The highest point in the municipality is the height of le Chevremont (336 meters above sea level) in a wooded area (Bois de Fouchécourt) in the foothills of the western Monts Faucilles .

history

The name Fouchecourt first appeared in 1172. At that time the village was part of the Bassigny Bailiwick ; later owned by the city of Lamarche , the village belonged to the Duchy of Bar . In Fouchécourt there was a Benedictine priory as a branch of the Luxeuil Abbey . Before the construction of the Saint-Valbert church, the parish was an annex to the Ainvelle parish, later the Saint-Julien parish and finally the Isches parish.
