Rainville is a municipality located at 320 meters above sea level in the French department of Vosges in the Grand Est region (before 2016: Lorraine ). It belongs to the canton of Mirecourt (until 2015: canton of Châtenois ) in the arrondissement of Neufchâteau . The residents call themselves Rainvillois.

The municipality of Rainville is located on the Vraine River on the western edge of the Xaintois landscape , about 18 kilometers east of Neufchâteau . It is bordered by Aouze to the north-west, Soncourt to the north, Pleuvezain to the north-east, Maconcourt to the east, Dommartin-sur-Vraine to the south-east, Saint-Paul to the south, Balléville to the south-west and Removille to the west . The A31 autoroute touches the west of the municipality.
