history
The name Grandrupt cannot be proven before 1611. Until the French Revolution, the area of today's municipality belonged to the bailiwick of Vesoul in Franche-Comté , in 1790 it moved to the newly formed canton of Bains-les-Bains in the then Darney district . The Church of St. Nicholas was built in 1864, followed by the construction of the school and mayor's house ( Mairie-école ) in 1870 . Due to the increasing mail traffic and the likelihood of confusion with the municipality of the same name Grandrupt in the northeast of the Vosges department, the name of the municipality was given the addition -de-Bains by decree of May 22, 1867 (based on the nearby spa town of Bains-les-Bains).
Population development
Grandrupt-de-Bains is one of the small communities in the Vosges department. The population has remained almost constant since the 1960s. In the first third of the 19th century there were still over 400 inhabitants in Grandrupt.
