history
The name of the village of Saint-Menge first appeared in the 12th century as Sanctus Memmius . In the Ancien Régime the village belonged to the Bailiwick of Mirecourt . The village, the parish and the church are named after the holy Christian martyr Menne ( Sainte-Menne ), who was one of the first Christians in the diocese of Toul and who died on October 3, 362. The parish of Saint-Quantity was under the auspices of the Chapter of Remiremont , which received two thirds of the tithe. Until 1728 the neighboring parish Gemmelaincourt belonged to the parish of Saint-Quantity in the diocese of Toul and the deanery of Poussay. The first town hall and school building was erected in 1793.
