Moncel-sur-Vair is a French commune located 300 meters above sea level in the Vosges department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the canton of Neufchâteau in the arrondissement of the same name and was created in 1965 through the merger of the previous municipalities of Gouécourt and Moncel-et-Happoncourt. It is bordered to the north by Maxey-sur-Meuse , to the east by Soulosse-sous-Saint-Élophe and to the south and west by Coussey .

The Vair flows into the Meuse between Greux and Moncel-sur-Vair .
