The canton of Neufchâteau is a French constituency in the Arrondissement Neufchâteau , in the Département Vosges and in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ); its main town is Neufchâteau .
The canton is located in the north-west of the Vosges department.
history
The canton was established in 1790. By 2015, 25 municipalities belonged to the canton of Neufchâteau. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes rose to 47 in 2015. All 21 communes of the previous canton of Coussey and the commune of Rouvres-la-Chétive from the canton of Châtenois were added to the previous 25 communes .

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Neufchâteau included the 25 municipalities of Attignéville , Barville , Bazoilles-sur-Meuse , Beaufremont , Brechainville , Certilleux , Circourt-sur-Mouzon , Fréville , Grand , Harchéchamp , Houéville , Jainvillotte , Landaville , Lemmecourt , Liffol-le-Grand , Mont-lès-Neufchâteau , Neufchâteau (main town), Pargny-sous-Mureau , Pompierre , Rebeuville , Rollainville , Sartes , Tilleux , Trampot and Villouxel . Its layout corresponded to an area of 304.49 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 8818.

politics
In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the three pairs of candidates achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, the team Dominique Humbert / Simon Leclerc (both DVD) won against Myriam Gilles / Lionel Maton (both FN ) with a share of the vote of 68.46% (turnout: 53.67%).
