The canton of La Bresse is a French canton located in the arrondissements of Épinal and Saint-Dié-des-Vosges , in the Vosges department and in the Grand Est region (until the end of 2015 Lorraine ); its main town is La Bresse .

history
After the nationwide changes in the composition of the cantons led to the dissolution of the canton Saulxures-sur-Moselotte , the canton La Bresse was created in 2015 and took over the ten communes of the dissolved canton and five communes from the canton Remiremont .
geography
The area of the canton of La Bresse covers part of the south-western Vosges . In the east, the canton extends as far as the ridge of the mountains, which here forms the border with the Alsatian department of Haut-Rhin . The area is drained by the rivers Bouchot , Cleurie and Moselotte - all of which are part of the Moselle catchment area .

politics
In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the five candidate pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, the team Jérôme Mathieu / Brigitte Vanson (both UMP) won against Elise Calais / Maurice Claudel (both PS ) with a share of the vote of 58.59% (turnout: 52.27%).
