Luca Egloff (born June 6, 1995 ) is a former Swiss ski jumper .

Career

Egloff, who starts for the ski club in Grabs , made his international debut at a junior competition in March 2008 in Bois-d'Amont . In 2009 he started in Einsiedeln for the first time in the Alpine Cup. He jumped into the points from the start. In February 2010 he was used for the first time in the FIS Cup in Villach , but could not convince and stayed in the Alpine Cup for the time being. Even when he was back in October in Einsiedeln, he remained without points.

At the European Olympic Winter Youth Festival 2011 in Liberec , he finished 16th in the individual on the normal hill. In the team event he finished tenth together with Killian Peier , Andreas Schuler and Björn Fischer . In July and August 2011 Egloff returned to the FIS Cup in Gérardmer and Einsiedeln and scored points in all four competitions. At the Swiss Ski Jumping Championships 2011 in Einsiedeln, he won his first Swiss championship title with the team on October 9, 2011. In December Egloff made the jump to the B-team and was nominated for the Ski Jumping Continental Cup in Engelberg . However, after he only achieved lower places in both competitions, he came back to the C-squad in the FIS Cup and in the Alpine Cup after the competitions.

At the Junior World Championships 2012 in Erzurum , Egloff reached 34th place in the individual on the normal hill. With the team he was sixth in the team competition. At the Swiss Ski Jumping Championships 2012 in Einsiedeln, he won his second Swiss championship title and the junior title with the team on October 6, 2012. He also secured bronze in the individual. After further rather mixed starts in the lower series, Egloff returned to Engelberg in December 2012 in the Continental Cup. However, he clearly missed the leap into the points. In the following year he started at the Junior World Championships 2013 in Liberec in the team competition and finished eleventh with his teammates.

In the summer of 2013, Egloff remained in the C-squad and the Continental Cup start in Engelberg in December brought no change. The 2014 Junior World Championships in Val di Fiemme did not bring him the breakthrough he had hoped for either. After rank 21 in the individual, rank seven followed with the team. In February he received a starting place for the Continental Cup in Seefeld in Tyrol . He reached the points for the first time as 19th. In the following two jumps in Falun , he jumped past them twice. In August Egloff started for the first time in the A-team and competed in a ski jumping Grand Prix . As the 58th he was eliminated in round one. After further competitions in the Continental and FIS Cups, he also competed in both Grand Prix competitions in Almaty , winning a total of nine points as 25th and 28th, which meant 69th place overall for him.

For the 2014/15 season he was given a permanent place in the senior national squad for the first time. After he qualified in Klingenthal , he finished the individual competition later than 40. In the team competition he was seventh together with Killian Peier , Gregor Deschwanden and Simon Ammann . After he missed the qualification in Lillehammer , he went back to the Continental Cup for further training. In Engelberg he started again in the World Cup, but clearly missed his first World Cup points again. At the beginning of February 2015 he started in Almaty, Kazakhstan, at his age-related last Junior World Championships and finished 23rd in the individual competition and, as in the previous year, seventh with the team. At the subsequent World Championships for adults , he was 42nd on the normal hill and 44th on the large hill in Falun, Sweden .

Egloff was a participant in the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld . In the competition on the large hill , he finished 38th and missed the second round. Together with Andreas Schuler , Simon Ammann and Killian Peier scored Egloff the team competition in seventh place for Switzerland. In the competition on the normal hill he was 36th and also missed the second round.

Egloff ended his career after the Continental Cup competition in Zakopane . In his last competition on March 17, 2019, he took 25th place from Wielka Krokiew .
