The canton of Raon-l'Étape is a French canton in the arrondissements of Épinal and Saint-Dié-des-Vosges , in the department of Vosges and in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ); its main town is Raon-l'Étape .

The canton is located in the northeast of the Vosges department.
history
The canton was established in 1790. Until 2015, nine municipalities belonged to the canton of Raon-l'Étape. The reorganization of the cantons on January 1, 2015 brought an expansion by 31 municipalities from the cantons of Senones (all 18 municipalities) and Rambervillers (13 of the 29 municipalities).

The canton consists of 40 municipalities with a total of 24,085 inhabitants (as of 2017) on a total area of 455.20 km 2 :
Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Raon-l'Étape included the nine municipalities of Allarmont , Celles-sur-Plaine , Étival-Clairefontaine , Luvigny , Nompatelize , Raon-l'Étape , Raon-sur-Plaine and Saint -Remy and Vexaincourt . Its layout corresponded to an area of 122.15 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 8822.
politics
In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the four candidate pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, Benoît Pierrat / Roseline Pierrel (both DVG) won against Sabrina Romary / Dominique Thomas (both FN ) with a share of the vote of 52.26% (turnout: 51.03%).
