Domptail is a French commune with 357 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Vosges département in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ); it belongs to the Arrondissement Épinal and the municipality association Région de Rambervillers .

The community of Domptail is eleven kilometers north of Rambervillers and ten kilometers west of Baccarat . The northern and eastern municipal boundaries also form the border with the Meurthe-et-Moselle department . The Mortagne tributary Belvitte runs in the south-west of the wooded municipality .

Neighboring municipalities of Domptail are Moyen in the north, Fontenoy-la-Joûte in the east, Ménarmont in the southeast, Xaffévillers in the south, Saint-Pierremont in the west and Magnières in the northwest.
