Mairie Laveline-du-Houx

Laveline-du-Houx (1801 still with the spelling Laveline et Houx ) is a French commune with 214 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Vosges department in the Grand Est region . It belongs to the Arrondissement Épinal and the municipality of Bruyères-Vallons des Vosges .

geography

The municipality of Laveline-du-Houx is located in the Vosges , about 16 kilometers northwest of Gérardmer and 20 kilometers east of Épinal .

The 8.21 km² municipal area of Laveline-du-Houx stretches along the central valley of the Vologne tributary, the Barba, over a length of almost three kilometers. The Barba takes on several mountain streams, including the Ruisseau de Christele Pierre .

About 40% of the community area is forested, especially the areas over 600 meters in the north, south and east. The highest point of the municipality is reached in the northeast on the municipality border to Herpelmont at 710 meters above sea level. The altitude of the valley locations over 500 meters means that there is hardly any economic arable farming, so cattle pastures dominate the upper valleys and on the slopes.

The municipality consists of the eponymous districts Laveline and Houx, which are about 700 meters apart, as well as the hamlets and mountain farms of Faing Neuf, Genestat, Hérigoutte, Le Grand Écart and Menémont . Between the districts of Laveline and Houx, a new building area was developed in 2009 in the area behind the previously separate town hall.

Neighboring municipalities of Laveline-du-Houx are Lépanges-sur-Vologne , Fiménil and Beauménil in the north, Herpelmont and Jussarupt in the northeast, Champdray in the east, Rehaupal in the southeast, Tendon in the south and southwest, Faucompierre in the west and La Neuveville-devant-Lépanges in the north-west.

history

The name of today's community appears for the first time in documents as Laveline Hout in 1434 .

The place consisted of scattered hamlets and belonged to Tendon , the residents were parish in nearby Saint-Jean-du-Marché (today part of the municipality of La Neuveville-devant-Lépanges ). Market days have been handed down to St. Johannis when agricultural and forestry products were offered.

From 1790 to 1800 Laveline du Houx was part of the parish of Docelles .

A boys 'school was set up in 1839 and a girls' school in 1871, and a mixed primary school existed in the Hérigoutte district from 1870 onwards.

The archives give little information about the local history, because church records are missing and some documents are so damaged that they can no longer be identified.

Laveline-du-Houx does not have a church; the pastoral care is taken over by the church in the neighboring Rehaupal . The land crosses in the municipality are noticeable, 15 of which still exist.

Economy and Infrastructure

Small handicrafts and six agricultural businesses are located in the village (dairy farming, cattle breeding, pig farming). The development of tourism (holiday homes, guest houses) is becoming increasingly important. In addition, Laveline-du-Houx is now valued by commuters from the nearby industrial zones around Docelles as a quiet place to live away from the main traffic flows.

Laveline-du-Houx is three kilometers from the departmental road 417 ( Remiremont - Gérardmer - Colmar ) which crosses the Vosges . The La Neuveville - Rehaupal and Herpelmont - Tendon roads cross in the Houx district . The nearest train station is in the town of Docelles, eight kilometers away, on the Arches – Saint-Dié line operated by TER Lorraine .
