geography

The municipality of Vaxoncourt is located on the Moselle tributary Durbion , about ten kilometers north of Épinal . Vaxoncourt is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Zincourt in the northeast, Pallegney in the east, Capavenir-Vosges in the south, Igney in the west and by Nomexy and Châtel-sur-Moselle in the northwest.

history

Foundations, bricks and a stone altar are evidence of settlement in Roman times.

In 1287 Vaconcourt was under the control of the Bishop of Metz .
