La Vôge-les-Bains is a French commune with 1,624 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the arrondissement Épinal des Départements Vosges and belongs to the Grand Est region . It is located in the canton of Le Val-d'Ajol and is a member of the municipal association Agglomération d'Épinal .
It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2017 by merging the former municipalities of Bains-les-Bains , Hautmougey and Harsault . The administrative headquarters are in Bains-les-Bains.

geography
La Vôge-les-Bains is located about 30 km southwest of Épinal , near the border with the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region . The municipality is located on the Vôge plateau on the southwest flank of the Vosges .
La Vôge-les-Bains consists of the three former municipalities (from north to south) Harsault, Hautmougey and Bains-les-Bains, a spa town with a thermal spring. The municipal area also includes the districts of La Fontaine aux Bois, La Manufacture, La Rappe, Le Chesnois, Le Pré Verdot, Le Raval and Les Fontenelles (to Bains-les-Bains) and La Forge de Thunimont and Thunimont (to Harsault).
The Côney and the Canal des Vosges , which runs parallel to the west, form the southwestern municipal boundary up to about the D164, then change to the east and form the eastern municipal boundary to the north as far as Charmois-l'Orgueilleux. On the way along the municipal boundaries, the canal overcomes a height difference of 12 meters in 12 locks over a length of 14 kilometers.
The Bagnerot, a tributary of the Côney, flows through Bains-les-Bains, through Hautmougey the Ruisseau Grandrupt , which flows further south into the Canal des Vosges. In the southwest of Hautmougey, the former municipal area is bounded by the Ruisseau de Gruey , which also drains into the Canal des Vosges. The Ruisseau des Cailloux flows through Harsault, which flows into the Canal des Vosges in the east of the district and has a gradient of 100 meters on its four-kilometer course through the former municipal area.
To the west, between Hautmougey and Harsault, the relief rises over a stepped terrain onto the plateau of the Grand Bois. The highest point in the municipality is reached here at 443 meters above sea level. In the northwest, a strip of the municipality reached up the Cailloux valley to the municipal boundary of Vioménils.
The valley of the Ruisseau Grandrupt is used partly as arable land, partly as pastureland, while in the west ( Bois de Montroche ) and east ( les Chavanes ) forests dominate, which in total cover half of the municipal area. The area around Harsault is used partly as arable land, partly as pastureland, while forests dominate in the southwest ( Bois de Montroche ), in the east ( les Chavanes ) and on the up to 60 meter high river slopes , which cover a quarter of the municipal area.
Hautmougey consists of a settlement axis that follows the river valley of the Grandrupt in north-south direction .

The new municipality was created by ordinance of the Prefect of December 5, 2016 with effect from January 1, 2017, following the opinion of the municipal councils of the three municipalities on October 20, 2016.

The (total) population of the municipality of La Vôge-les-Bains was determined by adding up the municipalities that were independent until 2016.
Politics and administration
Municipal council
In the local elections on March 15, 2020, the composition of the local council was redefined. With a turnout of 56.78%, the following result came about:
- The list "Maintenant Demain La Vôge-les-Bains" achieved 66.63% of the valid votes and occupies 19 seats.
- The list "Rassembler à La Vôge-les-Bains" was able to unite 33.38% of the valid votes and has four seats.

Partnerships
The new municipality of La Vôge-les-Bains has taken over their partnerships from Bains-les-Bains:
- The partnership with Bonndorf in the Black Forest (Baden-Württemberg) has existed since 1975.
- The partnership with Plévenon in the Côtes-d'Armor department has existed since 2013.
Culture and sights
- Saint-Gengoult church in Harsault with a wood and stone altar, side altars, hexagonal pulpit, confessionals and wooden statues from the 18th century. Several objects are marked as Monument historique .

education
There is the kindergarten Ecole maternelle Center in Bains-les-Bains and the kindergarten with primary school Ecole la Forge de Thunimont in Harsault. The other school facilities are all located in Bains-les-Bains: the primary school Ecole primaire Center , the Collège Julie Victoire Daubié and the Lycée des métiers des services: éco habitat et loisirs Le Chesnois .
Transport links
La Vôge-les-Bains is away from the national traffic flows. The departmental road D164 from Neufchâteau via Contrexéville , Darney , Bains-les-Bains to Saint-Loup-sur-Semouse leads through Hautmougey and Bains-les-Bains. The departmental roads D 434 and D 164 cross in the village.
The municipality's only train station is at Bains-les-Bains on the Belfort - Nancy railway line , around four kilometers southeast of the spa town.
