The municipality of Moriville is 22 kilometers north of Épinal . In the west, the 25 km² municipal area reaches the Moselle valley . Moriville is surrounded by large forest areas ( Forêt de Fraize, Forêt de Ternes, Le Grand Bois ).

Neighboring communities of Moriville are Damas-aux-Bois in the north, Rehaincourt in the north-east, Hadigny-les-Verrières in the south-east, Châtel-sur-Moselle and Portieux in the west.

history

In 1114 the village was first mentioned as Murini Villa in a document from the Belval Priory (today in the neighboring municipality of Portieux ). Moriville was under the Dukes of Lorraine and the Bailiwick in Charmes . Ecclesiastically, the residents belonged to the parish in Châtel-sur-Moselle , part of the Épinal deanery .

There are eight farms in the community (cattle and horse breeding).

The D 32 road from Charmes to Rambervillers runs through the municipality of Moriville . Six kilometers southwest of Moriville there is a connection to the motorway-like RN 57 from Nancy to Épinal . Châtel-Nomexy station, five kilometers away, is on the Blainville-Damelevières-Lure railway line .
