Aydoilles is a French commune with 1,028 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Vosges department in Grand Est . It belongs to the Arrondissement Épinal and the municipal association Agglomération d'Épinal .

Location of the municipality of Aydoilles in the Vosges department

The municipality of Aydoilles is located about eight kilometers northeast of Épinal , the capital ( prefecture ) of the Vosges department. The ten square kilometer municipal area of ​​Aydoilles extends on the edge of a foothill of the Vosges that extends far to the southwest . The Ruisseau des Bolottes , a tributary of the Saint-Oger that drains to the Moselle, flows through the extensive settlement . The streams in the north of the municipality ( Ruisseau de Lambiéval, Ruisseau de Prays ) flow over the Durbion to the Moselle. The highest point is 491 meters above sea level in the heavily forested south of the municipality ( Forêt Communale d'Aydoilles as part of the large Forêt d'Épinal ). There are also larger forest areas in the north ( La Quillonhaye ).

Aydoilles includes the hamlets and farms of Les Bolottes, L'Étang Bataille, Le Rond Cheine, Le Neuf Moulin and La Croix .

Neighboring municipalities of Aydoilles are Dompierre in the north, Fontenay in the east, Le Roulier in the southeast, Charmois-devant-Bruyères in the south, La Baffe and Épinal in the southwest, Deyvillers and Longchamp in the west, and Vaudéville and Sercœur in the northwest.

history

The place Aydoilles was mentioned as Aidella as early as the 12th century . The settlement was until 1710 in the Bruyères department of the Vosges Bailiwick. The church of St. George belonged to the deanery Épinal within the diocese of Toul , later to the diocese of Saint-Dié .

In 1793, Aydoilles was still part of the Girecourt canton, but became part of the Bruyères canton in 1801 .

From 1793 to 1801 there was the spelling Aydoiles .

From 2005 to 2011, Aydoilles was a member of the community association Est-Épinal Développement .

Economy and Infrastructure

Aydoilles has smaller retail and service companies and a large Intermarché supermarket. In addition, many residents commute to the nearby industrial city of Épinal. Ten farms are located in Aydoilles (fruit growing, seed propagation, cattle breeding, sheep and goat farming), plus four forest holdings.

The trunk road from Épinal to Saint-Dié-des-Vosges (D 420 or former RN 420 ) runs through the municipality of Aydoilles . Other roads connect Aydoilles with Cheniménil , Vaudéville and Méménil . There are rail connections in the nearby Épinal transport hub.
