Dompaire is a French commune in the Vosges department of Region Grand Est (2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement Épinal and the municipal association Mirecourt Dompaire, founded in 2017 .
geography
The municipality of Dompaire, with 1148 inhabitants (January 1, 2017), is located in the Gitte valley , a tributary of the Madon , about 20 kilometers west of Épinal and ten kilometers southeast of the small town of Mirecourt .
The settlement area of the neighboring municipality Madonne-et-Lamerey connects seamlessly with the center of Dompaires.
The districts Laviéville and Naglaincourt belong to Dompaire . Neighboring municipalities of Dompaire are Racécourt in the north, Bouzemont in the northeast, Madonne-et-Lamerey in the east, Ville-sur-Illon in the south, Les Ableuvenettes and Gelvécourt-et-Adompt in the southwest, Hagécourt in the west and Maroncourt and Velotte-et-Tatignécourt in the north-west.
history
The present parish emerged in 1836 from Lavieville-et-Naglaincourt, which had existed since the end of the 18th century . Until December 31, 2014, Dompaire was the main town (chef-lieu) of the canton of Dompaire .

Attractions
- L'Eglise Saint Jean-Baptiste de Laviéville, John the Baptist church, dedicated to the 12th century when historique monument reported
- City church of Saint-Nicolas, equipped in 1850 with an organ from 1821 by Jean Baptiste Jeanpierre . Today it is the only surviving organ builder from Vagney .

Economy and Infrastructure
In Dompaire there are two bakers, two furniture stores, a gas station, a florist and a general store. In addition, ten farms are located in Dompaire (grain cultivation, dairy farming, cattle, goat and sheep breeding).
The D 166 trunk road, which is partially expanded to two lanes, runs south of the village center from Épinal to Mirecourt / Neufchâteau . At the Dompaire junction, the D 28 / D 3 branches off to Vittel and to the A31 autoroute .
