The town hall, in which the boys 'school was also located, dates from 1834, the girls' school from 1868.
Brewery history
Beer brewing has a long tradition in the community. The first brewery in town can be traced back to 1627 . At the beginning of the 20th century, the Grande Brasserie & Malterie Vosgienne reached its peak with an annual output of 46,000 hectoliters of beer when large deliveries were made to Paris and Troyes . The increasing concentration in the beverage industry caused many breweries to die after the Second World War. This is how the tradition ended in Ville-sur-Illon in 1956. Malt was still produced until 1966, and soft drinks until 1975. The local museum shows the development of beer brewing in Ville-Sur-Illon, and various beers are now being brewed there again in small quantities.
Population development
The community was only slowly able to compensate for the population loss due to the closure of the brewery.
