Bains-les-Bains was a French commune with a last 1204 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2013) in the Vosges department of the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It was the capital of the canton of the same name and the seat of the Val de Vôge municipal association . Bains-les-Bains is a district of the municipality of La Vôge-les-Bains .
geography
The spa town of Bains-les-Bains is located about 30 km southwest of Épinal in the Vôge on the southwest flank of the Vosges . The Bagnerot , a tributary of the Côney , which formed the western boundary of the municipality, flows through the village .
The districts of La Fontaine aux Bois, La Manufacture, La Rappe, Le Chesnois, Le Pré Verdot, Le Raval and Les Fontenelles belong to the former municipality of Bains-les-Bains .
Neighboring communities of Bains-les-Bains were Les Voivres in the north, La Chapelle-aux-Bois in the north-east, Le Clerjus in the south-east, Trémonzey in the south, Fontenoy-le-Château in the west and Hautmougey in the north-west.
history
The thermal springs were already used by the Romans . Originally the place was called Balneum, later Bains-en-Vosges.
Since the 13th century, the place was under the influence of the Remiremont Abbey . Little is known about the period that followed, but there was a fire disaster in 1498, a flood in 1571 and an earthquake in 1682 .
Duke Leopold von Lothringen (1679–1729) had the bathing facilities rebuilt and issued bathing regulations for the use of the baths for a moderate fee. This development continued under Duke Stanislaus , and so it is to this day: constant improvements and changes adapt the bathing resort to the needs of the spa guests. From 1928, specialized in the treatment of heart - and circulatory diseases . Rheumatic diseases have also been treated since 1987 .
The municipality of Bains-les-Bains merged with Harsault and Hautmougey on January 1, 2017 to form the new municipality of La Vôge-les-Bains.

Since 1975 there has been a partnership with the German municipality of Bonndorf in the Black Forest ( Baden-Württemberg ).
Bains-les-Bains presents itself with the health resorts Contrexéville , Plombières-les-Bains and Vittel as a "bathing area" in the Vosges.
Transport links
Bains-les-Bains train station on the Belfort - Nancy railway line is about four kilometers southeast of the spa town. The departmental roads D 434 and D 164 cross in the village .
