Langley is a French commune in the Vosges department in the region of Grand Est (2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement Épinal and the Épinal municipal association, founded in 2017 .
geography
The community of Langley, with 161 inhabitants (January 1, 2017), is located on the Moselle , about 25 kilometers northwest of Épinal .
The Moselle flows in a southeast-northwest direction through the municipality, the core town of Langley is on the right bank of the Moselle. In the far west, the municipality touches the Canal des Vosges, which runs parallel to the Moselle . Langley also has an area of around 50 hectares to the left of the Moselle, which largely consists of an industrial area (including transformer stations from the EDF group ). The commercial area can only be reached from the village of Langley via the Moselle bridges in the villages of Charmes and Portieux . In Langley there is a railway bridge over the Moselle: the only one on the almost 100 kilometer long railway line from Nancy via Épinal to Remiremont .
About 70 hectares or almost a quarter of the municipal area consists of forest ( Forêt de Ternes ).
Langley's neighboring communities are Essegney in the northwest and north, Damas-aux-Bois in the northeast and east, Portieux in the southeast and south, and Vincey in the southwest.
history
The village of Langley belonged to the Bailiwick of Châtel from 1594 until the French Revolution , from 1711 Langley was also dependent on the parish of Vincey . Ecclesiastically, the village, which still has no church, belonged to the deanery Jorxey of the diocese of Toul . The parish registers were kept in neighboring Essegney .
The mayor's and school building was built in 1877.

Economy and Infrastructure
There are three farms in the municipality (dairy, cattle breeding).
The D 32 trunk road from Charmes to Rambervillers runs through the municipality of Essegney . In the nearby town of Charmes there is a connection to the motorway-like RN 57 from Nancy to Épinal . Charmes station, one and a half kilometers from Essegney, is on the Blainville-Damelevières-Lure railway line .
