Vincey is a French commune in the Vosges department of Region Grand Est . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Épinal and to the Épinal municipal association founded in 2017 .
geography
The community of Vincey, with 2181 inhabitants (January 1, 2017), is located in the Moselle valley in the north of the Vosges department, around 20 kilometers northwest of Épinal .
The Moselle flows in a south-east-north-west direction through the municipality of the neighboring municipality of Portieux . A section of the Canal des Vosges , which runs parallel to the left of the Moselle, partially forms the eastern boundary of Vincey. The Vincey train station on the Nancy - Épinal - Remiremont line is also in the Portieux area.
The southern half of the 12.81 km² community area is covered by forest.
Neighboring municipalities of Vincey are Essegney and Langley in the north, Portieux in the east, Nomexy in the southeast, Frizon in the south, Bettegney-Saint-Brice in the southwest, Évaux-et-Ménil and Ubexy in the west and Brantigny in the northwest.
history
The place first appeared in 1003 as Vincei in a deed of the chapter Épinal . Vincey was part of the Bailiwick of Charmes , ecclesiastically the village belonged to the deanery Jorxey of the diocese of Saint-Dié and half to the abbesses in Epinal.

The coat of arms shows a head of cabbage, which points to a long tradition of cabbage cultivation around Vincey. The three factories symbolize the former industrial site with the sectors electricity, metallurgy and cotton processing. The houses with the church represent the rural character that Vincey has retained.

Economy and Infrastructure
After the decline of the textile industry in Vincey, many commuters now live in the community who are employed in the nearby industrial areas in the Moselle valley. There are 22 retail stores in the parish.
Vincey is home to two kindergartens and two primary schools.
In Vincey the highways D 36a ( Varmonzey - Portieux ) and D 157 ( Igney - Socourt ) cross. The two-lane national road 57 from Nancy to Épinal leads past Vincey with a junction to the west. The Vincey stop is on the Nancy-Épinal- Remiremont railway line following the Moselle valley and operated by the TER Lorraine company.
