The TER Lorraine is a transportation company that for Lorraine in French administrative region Grand Est logistics of public transport (LPT) provides.

The four departments of Meurthe-et-Moselle (54), Meuse (55), Moselle (57) and Vosges (88) within Lorraine are served by TER Lorraine . Infrastructure

Since the introduction of the TER in Lorraine, enormous efforts have been made to improve the infrastructure. The new TGV route , which runs through Lorraine in a west-east direction and does not touch any previously existing station, has also made major adjustments to train operations necessary for regional trains.

There are currently 169 stations. On a total land area of ​​23,550 km², this corresponds approximately to the occurrence of a train station on 139 km² (for comparison: in Alsace there is a train station on an average of 50 km²).

TER in Lorraine has been installed since January 1st, 2002 and operates under the name Metrolor . The average daily number of passengers is 40,000. In the year of the market entry, there were 102 train units with a total of 20,000 seats. At the end of 2005 there were 122 of its own units with 26,000 seats or 27,000 seats including material from Deutsche Bahn and CFL on the routes in France. In 2005 there were ten different vehicle types with an average age of 27 years, and by the end of 2008 all old vehicles should have been retired or renovated. The current vehicle stock:

  • 72% within its own structure (Lorraine) (9.11 million)
  • 17.7% cross-border, especially to Luxembourg (2.22 million)
  • 10.3% across the borders of the regional TER Lorrain, namely to Alsace, Champagne-Ardenne and Franche-Comté (1.2 million).
