TER Upper Normandy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TER Haute-Normandie is a transport company that provides local public transport logistics for the French region of Haute-Normandie , which existed until 2015 (part of the Normandy region since 2016 ) . Like the other TER companies in France, it is co-financed by the regional government and operated by the state railway SNCF .

The company TER Haute-Normandie operates its lines on an area of approximately 12,300 km² and stops at 76 train stations. Each train station has to cover an area of 162 km² on average. The boundaries of the traffic area are formed by the two departments of Eure (27) and Seine-Maritime (76).

In Haute-Normandie, too, the TER era began on January 1, 2002. On that day, practical cooperation between the SNCF and the regional administration began. In addition to the SNCF as the service provider for all train connections, there are also two bus companies in Haute-Normandie that take over the transport of people on the road with four bus connections.

The requirements of a modernized local transport concept have largely not yet been implemented in Haute-Normandie. For the year 2008, for example, the task was still to introduce a uniform cycle timetable . The modernization of the rolling stock has not yet been completed either. In May 2008, a EUR 100 million loan for the vehicle plan was approved by the European Investment Bank (EIB) . A second 100 million euro batch is to follow. By 2010, we want the entire rolling stock have replaced with newer or completely renovated, 2015 [date] to a completely-disabled transport possible. The reopening of the Rouen - Louviers - Évreux rail link, which was closed in the mid-1960s, was also planned. The first planning results should have been available in 2008; According to their own statements, there should be a daily potential of 2,500 passengers for this route. The line is to be reopened for the commissioning of the new Paris - Normandy line.

Vehicle material

All cars are to be replaced or modernized by 2010. The costs for this amount to around 400 million euros. The wagon stock will then consist of:

25 of these vehicles have already been delivered and are running on the routes Rouen - Caen , Rouen - Le Havre , Rouen - Serqueux - Amiens and Rouen - Vernon - Mantes-la-Jolie .
These shorter coaches with 80 seats run on the less frequented Gisors – Serqueux and Bréauté - Fécamp routes with an extension to Le Havre and Le Havre – Montivilliers - Rolleville .
  • 16 double-decker railcars (Rames à 2 niveaux de nouvelle génération TER 2Nng )
These new railcars, which are equipped with plenty of space, run on the Rouen – Paris routes and, together with the TER Picardie and TER Nord-Pas-de-Calais regions, the Rouen – Lille route is also served by new trains.
These trains have already been modernized and, with a 20 percent increase in passenger numbers since 2002, have already demonstrated the acceptance of passengers. They are used on the marginal lines to Dieppe and Elbeuf .
  • 41 double deck cars (Rames omnibus à 2 niveaux VO2N )
They too have been largely modernized and serve the Vernon – Paris and Serquigny – Paris routes.
