TER Nord-Pas-de-Calais
The TER Nord-Pas-de-Calais is a transportation company, for the French region of Nord-Pas-de-Calais the logistics of public transport (LPT) provides.
The traffic area includes the two departments Nord (59) and Pas-de-Calais (62). In this region of Nord-Pas de Calais , according to the company, in 1978 the course was set for more efficient and service-oriented local public transport. In fact, the plans for regional control and financing on the part of the French state railway SNCF only existed since 1984 .
These improvements not only included modernized trains, increased frequency, optimized tariff zones and the 60 percent increase in the number of trains. The administration of the Nord-Pas de Calais region , together with the SNCF, presented a whole range of measures. The number of passengers increased by 90 percent.
An average of 80,000 passengers per day use the TER in the Nord - Pas de Calais area , 54 percent of them in school and student traffic , 37 percent commuters to their workplaces and 9 percent in leisure traffic. 211 stations and stops are served on around 1,800 km of route network, which is served by 18 lines. This corresponds to a density of 59 km² per stopping point based on the total land area of 12,414 km². According to their own statements, this is the highest density after the Île-de-France . In the north region , unlike most other regions, there are no bus routes operated by the TER.
In 2002, 25 years after the introduction of the "TER Nord - Pas de Calais" system, the two partners reached a new agreement. The punctuality of the trains was found to be a particularly important quality feature. The second most important measure was customer information. 94 percent of the trains were less than five minutes late. A bonus-malus regulation was agreed. After accidents, technical malfunctions and the like, a new customer information system was installed on the Tangente Lille-Valenciennes on a trial basis.
In the traffic area there is basically the line shape of a star around the capital Lille . Usually a route is served by two different lines that run alternately and fork at the next hub station in order to add a new "second" line to their route from another side. This ensures that you can reach many train stations without changing trains.
In July 2007 a loan of 150 million euros for the purchase of new vehicles was approved by the European Investment Bank (EIB). The following vehicles are currently (2011?) In circulation:
