Scoliciosporum chlorococcum (an established German name does not exist) is a bark-dwelling lichen .

description

Scoliciosporum chlorococcum is one of the crust lichens, d. H. the thallus rests closely on the base. Their camp is gray-green to dark green and resembles epiphytic algae. The rimless, very small, mostly dark brown to blackish fruit bodies are apothecia with a maximum diameter of 0.4 mm. The long spindle-shaped spores (20–40 × 4–7 µm) are mostly 8-celled.

distribution

The lichen grows epiphytically on acidic tree bark, both in forests and on free-standing trees. In addition to acidic immissions, it also endures eutrophication and, along with Lecanora conizaeoides, is the species that penetrates the furthest into areas with heavier air pollution. Occurrences are known from Europe and North America.
