The Lecanoromycetidae are a subclass of sac fungi that comprise the majority of lichens .
features
The fruiting bodies are sunk into the lichen thallus , sitting on it or stalked. They are mostly disc-shaped. The excipulum is translucent ( hyaline ) or pigmented. The hymenium is amyloid or non-amyloid. The paraphyses are simply or slightly to richly branched. They are septate, anastomosing or not. The asci are bitunicate, but functionally unitunicate. They are usually eight pores, the number of spores can vary from one to many. The ascospores are hyaline or brown.
Way of life
The species form lichens, whereby the plant symbiont (photobiont) are green algae or cyanobacteria .
Systematics
The system of lichen-forming hose fungi is very strong in the flow. In 2007 the subclass of the Lecanoromycetidae was first described in order to do justice to the phylogenetic work on DNA sequence comparisons. According to Hibbett et al. The subclass comprises three orders: According to the current system of Wijayawardene and employees 2018, but seven orders:
- Caliciales
- Lecanorales , the most biodiverse group
- Lecideales
- Leprocaulales
- Peltigerales
- Rhizocarpales
- Teloschistales
