In the northeast, the municipality extends far and reaches up to a few hundred meters to the Canal des Vosges , which accompanies the Moselle here. The hills in the west and south-west of the municipality are wooded ( Bois du Haut, Rougie, Bois de la Xatelle ), in the far west lies the 410 m high Haut des Angles, the highest point in the municipality of Ubexy.
The Dommartin district belongs to Ubexy .

history
Ubexy first appeared in a document in 1354 as Ubexei . The village was then part of the Bailliage Charmes and the seat of a small manor that also included the villages of Rapey, Dommartin-sur-Colmey and parts of Bettegney-Saint-Brice . Until 1690, the residents belonged to the parish in Dommartin-sur-Colmey , today's district of Dommartin , whose church has long since ceased to exist; thereafter the inhabitants of Ubexy belonged to the parish of the neighboring village Brantigny . In 1788, on the eve of the French Revolution, St. Martin's own parish church was built in Ubexy.
Cistercian Abbey
In 1841, nuns of the Cistercian Order of Stricter Observance founded the Notre-Dame de Saint-Joseph monastery near a 13th century castle to the west of the village of Ubexy . In the 1970s there were still 60 nuns living in the monastery. The remaining twelve residents gave the monastery the end of 2012, and went into the Trappist - igny abbey in the Marne department in order.

Ubexy is one of the smaller communities in the Vosges department. After over 400 people were counted at the beginning of the 19th century, the population has steadily decreased since then and fell below the 300-inhabitant mark in 1891. This was not achieved again afterwards.
Economy and Infrastructure
As a primary school location, despite its small size, the community functions as a small center for the even smaller communities in the immediate vicinity. In addition to the school, there are shops and small service providers in Ubexy. Agriculture is also an important source of income for the residents. Six farms are located in Ubexy (mainly cattle breeding).
Ubexy is located on the highway of charm by Dompaire . There are other road connections to Bouxurulles and Varmonzey and Vincey . The two-lane national road 57 from Nancy to Épinal runs through the northeast of the municipality. The station in Vincey, six kilometers from Ubexy, is on the Nancy-Épinal- Remiremont railway line following the Moselle valley and operated by the TER Lorraine company.
