Mazirot is a French commune in the department of Vosges in the region Grand Est . It belongs to the Arrondissement Épinal and the municipal association Mirecourt Dompaire, founded in 2017 .

geography

The municipality of Mazirot, with 224 inhabitants (January 1, 2017), is located on the Moselle tributary Madon , the course of which is described by a striking loop of the river . Immediately south of Mazirot is the small town of Mirecourt , the prefecture of Épinal is 33 kilometers from Mazirot.

The neighboring communities of Mazirot are Chauffecourt in the north, Bettoncourt and Gircourt-lès-Viéville in the northeast, Avillers in the east, Villers in the southeast, Mirecourt in the south and Poussay in the west.

history

The place probably first appeared in the 13th century as Maiseroy .

Ecclesiastically Mazirot belonged together with the neighboring town of Chauffecourt to the chapter Remiremont , which received two thirds of the tithe .

The church in Mazirot dates from the 14th century, it is part of the deanery Jorxey in the diocese of Toul .

The town hall building ( Mairie ) was built in 1870, the school in 1832.

Economy and Infrastructure

There are four farms in the municipality (dairy farming, horse breeding).

Two kilometers north of Mazirot, the D 55 road runs from Charmes to Mirecourt . Near the town of Charmes there is a connection to the motorway-like RN 57 from Nancy to Épinal . Mirecourt station, four kilometers away, is the end of the Jarville-la-Malgrange – Mirecourt railway .
