history
The municipality of Capavenir Vosges was created on January 1, 2016 from the previous municipalities of Girmont , Oncourt and Thaon-les-Vosges . The main town is Thaon-les-Vosges. The name translates roughly towards the future of [the] Vosges . It was named after the municipal association Communauté de communes CAPAVENIR , which existed from 2004 to 2012 and to which the three communes belonged.
