Oncourt was an independent French municipality until 2016 with 185 inhabitants last (as of January 1, 2013) in the Vosges department in the Grand Est region .

With effect from January 1, 2016, the municipalities of Thaon-les-Vosges , Girmont and Oncourt were merged into a Commune nouvelle with the name Capavenir-Vosges .

The place Oncourt is located in the valley of the Avière , a left tributary of the upper Moselle , twelve kilometers northwest of the city center of Épinal , the capital (chef-lieu) of the Vosges department.

In Oncourt, the D 41 road from Igney to Sanchey and the Mazeley - Thaon-les-Vosges connection cross . There is a direct connection in the direction of Thaon-les-Vosges to the two-lane national road 57 from Nancy to Épinal . The nearest stops ( Igney and Thaon-les-Vosges ) are on the Nancy-Épinal- Remiremont railway line following the Moselle valley and operated by the TER Lorraine company.
