Fontenoy-la-Joûte is a French commune with 315 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). There are 15 bookshops in this small village.

The municipality of Fontenoy-la-Joûte is located between Lunéville and Saint-Dié , six kilometers west of Baccarat on the border with the Vosges department . To the south of Fontenoy-la-Joûte is the départementale D22 route and the Grand Bois de Glonville ( Glonville Forest).
history
Fontenoy-la-Joûte was first mentioned in a document in 1120.
The idea of turning the community into a “book village” came from the Dominican Father Serge Bonnet, the former French Minister of Agriculture François Guillaume and the teacher Daniel Mengotti. The "Book Village" was inaugurated on April 28, 1996.

Culture and sights
In 1997, the then mayor of Fontenoy-la-Joûte received the Marianne d'Or (Golden Marianne ), a prize that is awarded annually to several “excellent” municipalities and was launched in 1984 by Edgar Faure and Alain Trampogliéri.
The community holds readings and book markets several times a year. A literary competition is held once a year and is dedicated to a different writer each year. In 2009 the motto was Les Nouveaux Victor Hugo (The New Victor Hugos).
Buildings
- The current church was built between 1864 and 1869 on the site of two older churches.
- A chapel named Saint-Pierre was in 1120 in the cartulary of the Abbey of Senones mentioned. However, the current chapel was built in the 13th century. It is entered in the supplementary inventory ( inventaire supplémentaire ) of the Monuments historiques ( monument ).
