Brouville is a French commune with 132 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (before 2016 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Lunéville and the Canton of Baccarat .
geography
The municipality is located about 47 kilometers southeast of Nancy in the southeast of the Meurthe-et-Moselle department. The community consists of the village and individual farmsteads. The Bois de la Grande Voivre forest covers the south of the municipality. Neighboring communities are Vaxainville in the north, Reherrey in the north-east and east, Merviller in the east, south-east and south, Gélacourt in the south-west and west, Azerailles in the west and Hablainville in the north-west.
history
The present municipality is mentioned in 1152 (Berovilla cum ecclesia) as Berovilla in a document. In 1281 a place Brovile is mentioned in a document. Brouville historically belonged to the Vogtei (Bailliage) Vic and thus to the province of Trois-Évêchés (Three Dioceses), which in fact fell to France in 1552. Until the French Revolution , the community was then in the Grand-gouvernement de Lorraine-et-Barrois . From 1793 to 1801 the community was assigned to the Lunéville district and the canton of Ogeviller. It has been part of the canton of Baccarat since 1801. Since 1801 Brouville is also assigned to the Arrondissement of Lunéville. Until 1871, the community was in the old Meurt (h) e. Since then it has been part of the Meurthe-et-Moselle department .

traffic
Brouville is close to the railway line from Lunéville to Saint-Dié-des-Vosges. The closest stops are in the neighboring municipality of Azerailles and in Baccarat. Not far from the municipality, the N59 with a full connection leads past Gélacourt. The D19, which runs through the village, is important for regional traffic.
