Mouacourt is a French commune with 72 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It belongs to the Arrondissement Lunéville and the municipality association Pays du Sânon .
geography
Mouacourt is 230 m above sea level, about 18 kilometers northeast of the city of Lunéville and about 40 kilometers east of Nancy .
The community area covers a section of the upper Sânon valley. The Rhine-Marne Canal runs parallel to the Sânon . The southern half of the 8.5 km² municipal area is forested ( Bois des Hauts Chênes ). To the south the terrain gradually rises; In the southernmost tip it reaches the Carrefour de la Croix Bastien saddle , which leads to the catchment area of the Vezouze . The northern half of the municipality is characterized by arable and pasture areas.
Neighboring communities of Mouacourt are Coincourt in the north, Xures in the east, Emberménil in the southeast, Laneuveville-aux-Bois in the south (point of contact) and Parroy in the west.
history
The place name developed from Mouvaucourt (1669) via Moacourt (1719) to today's Mouacourt. In the Ancien Régime , the village belonged to the Saint-Léger de Marsal monastery .
On January 1, 1973 Mouacourt was incorporated into Parroy together with the neighboring towns of Coincourt and Xures . This parish merger was canceled on January 1, 1987.

Economy and Infrastructure
There are six farms in the municipality (cereal cultivation, dairy farming).
The D2 trunk road runs through the municipality of Mouacourt from Dombasle-sur-Meurthe via Lagarde towards Sarrebourg . Other roads connect the village with the neighboring communities of Coincourt and Laneuveville-au-Bois . In the municipality of Bénaménil, 16 kilometers to the south, there is a connection to the motorway-like RN 4 from Nancy to Strasbourg .
