history

The first human traces come from Franconian times. The current community was mentioned indirectly in 1114 (Romonoldi villa) in the Latin form Romonoldi in a document. A first French form appeared in a document from Beaupré Abbey as a Remenovilla in 1164. Remenoville historically belonged to the bailiwick (Bailliage) Lunéville and thus to the Duchy of Lorraine , which fell to France in 1766. Until the French Revolution , the community was then in the Grand-gouvernement de Lorraine-et-Barrois . From 1793 to 1801 the community was assigned to the Lunéville district. Since 1801 Remenoville has been assigned to the Arrondissement of Lunéville. Until 1871, the community was in the old Meurthe department . Since then it has been part of the Meurthe-et-Moselle department. During the First World War , the parish was completely destroyed in August 1914 during the Battle of the Trouée de Charmes .
