Large parts of the municipality are forested.
history
The municipal area settled Celts from the tribe of Leuker . Coins found in the 1st century are also evidence of early settlement. The place name is also of Celtic / Gallic origin (from Donos and Briga). The Tour du Bacha tower ruins date from Roman times. Part of the Gallo-Roman village of Danobriga was excavated in the 1960s. A number of objects were discovered, including crockery, woodwork and statues of Jupiter and Hercules. Danobriga went down in the 5th century when the Alemanni storms and was not settled again until the Carolingian era. The current municipality is mentioned for the first time in 1076 (indirectly, Wiricus de Danubre) under the name Danubre in a document. In the 12th century it was part of the domain of the Counts of Salm, who were subordinate to the Bishop of Metz. The Counts of Blâmont, a branch of the Salm, fortified the small settlement. The city walls were up to 2 m thick and up to 25 m high. This huge fortification was razed in 1636 on behalf of Cardinal Richelieu. In order to shake off the rule of the bishop, the Counts of Blâmont allied themselves with the Duke of Lorraine. From 1291 to 1506 the counts ruled as feudal lords of the Duke of Lorraine. After the Blâmont became extinct, the Duke of Lorraine assumed direct rule in 1506. Deneuvre has historically been part of the Duchy of Lorraine since 1291 , which fell to France in 1766. Until the French Revolution , the community was then in the Grand-gouvernement de Lorraine-et-Barrois . From 1793 to 1801 the community was assigned to the Lunéville district. It has been part of the canton of Baccarat since 1793. Since 1801 it has also been assigned to the Arrondissement of Lunéville. The community was in the old Meurte department until 1871. Since then it has been part of the Meurthe-et-Moselle department .
