Dance of December Souls is the first studio album by the Swedish metal band Katatonia .
History of origin
The album was released in 1993 on CD by No Fashion Records and on LP by Helion Records. In 2004 the album was re-released under the label Black Lodge with a new artwork, which is not supported by the band for personal reasons. In 2007 the album was re-released, this time by Peaceville Records with a blue version of the original cover and all five songs from the EP Jhva Elohim Meth… The Revival as bonus tracks. The music was composed by Anders Nyström, while the lyrics are by Jonas Renkse.

Reviews
In Petrified the self-description as "Sorrowfilled and harmonous Northern Dark Metal" was described as the most appropriate and Katatonia as one of the most original bands in Sweden. The plaintive and rough singing was praised as well as the dark and gruesome lyrics.
