Peaceville Records is a British independent record company.

history

The company was founded in 1987 by Paul "Hammy" Halmshaw in Cleckheaton, England . Peaceville was originally a cassette-only label that primarily released anarcho-punk . Over the years the musical selection went from crust and hardcore to metal . At the end of 2006, Halmshaw handed over the reins to Paul Groundwell of Snapper Music.

Especially the bands My Dying Bride , Anathema and Paradise Lost - often later referred to as the "Big Three of Doom Metal " - made the label popular in the early 1990s, especially in metal circles.
