Electro Hippies was a crust punk / thrashcore band from northern England .

history

The band was founded in 1985. Its members came from the two northern cities of St. Helens and Wigan . Although it didn't last very long, its music influenced a number of later crust, hardcore and grindcore bands. She was best known through the singer Jeff Walker , who switched to the band Carcass in early 1987 . In 1989, together with Napalm Death, the world's shortest single with around three seconds of playing time was recorded for the Grindcrusher sampler, which was included in the Guinness Book of Records ; the A-side contained the napalm death title You Suffer , which is also listed in the Guinness Book with a playing time of 1.316 seconds as the shortest piece of music ever recorded.

style

AllMusic described the music on the album The Only Good Punk Is a Dead One as an "eccentric, difficult to classify, political crossover of punk and metal with strange, yapping vocals". The music sometimes climbs into a kind of proto-grindcore, sometimes it reminds of classic heavy metal.
