Dan Swanö (born March 10, 1973 in Finspång ) is a Swedish music producer, singer, guitarist , bassist , drummer and keyboardist . He is considered to be extremely influential in death metal , progressive metal, and progressive rock .

Career

Swanö was a member of a variety of bands. He played for Edge of Sanity , Nightingale , Pan.Thy.Monium , Brejn Dedd , Unicorn , Infestdead , De Infernali and Route Nine . As a drummer he played with Katatonia and Bloodbath and worked on Theli as a singer for Therion .

In 2001 Dan Swanö released the concept EP Sbrodj under the band name Karaboudjan, the content of which is based on the Tintin comics by Hergé . The three pieces, whose style is called Swanical Stoned Sludge Space-Rock by the web magazine Avantgarde Metal , are named after the comic albums Flight 714 to Sydney , The Black Island and The Mysterious Star ; Figures from the comics are listed as band members in the booklet, according to Dr. Krollspell or General Alcazar.

In his Unisound studio , Swanö has produced albums by Marduk , Opeth , Dissection , Katatonia, Diabolical Masquerade , Fall of Serenity , Misery Speaks and Dark Funeral, among others . He later stated that he never wanted to be a producer, it just happened. The musicians around him had arranged for him to produce them, and he had to quit his job because of that. Today he still works in a music store. In 1993 the studio became his only activity and the situation worsened with the birth of his son. In addition, his studio was only visited by black metal bands, which he found boring copies of Marduk and Dissection and who wanted their sound without possessing their talent. The bands more interesting for Swanö, in turn, went to larger studios such as Peter Tägtgren's Abyss studio because of better budgets . In addition, his work no longer gave him freedom and the work that went with it kept him from producing himself. He stopped working as a producer and sold instruments in a music store.
