Pan.Thy.Monium was a Swedish death metal band around Dan Swanö . The group was founded in 1990 as a side project and released three albums until they broke up in 1996.

Band history

Dan Swanö founded Pan.Thy.Monium in 1990 as a project alongside Edge of Sanity together with his brother Dag. In addition, the Edge of Sanity musicians Robert Karlsson (vocals) and Benny Larsson (drums, violin), as well as Robert Ivarrson (guitar) were active in the group.

After the demo … Dawn and the EP Dream II , the group was able to get a record deal with Osmose Productions and in 1992 released their debut album Dawn of Dreams there . The seven songs were left untitled. In 1993 Khaooohs appeared with guest singer Aasah. In 1996 the last album Khaooohs & Kon-Fus-Ion followed on Relapse Records . Then Swanö broke up the group. The remaining musicians tried to keep the project alive without Swanö, but didn't make it.

music

Musically, Pan.Thy.Monium can be assigned to the area of Death and Black Metal . Their compositions are very complex and avant-garde with many breaks , as is common in progressive metal . Pan.Thy.Monium was one of the first groups in this area to introduce saxophone sounds and electronic noise effects. Another characteristic is the vocals , which are made up of growls , as is usual in Death Metal . However, no real text is sung, but the voice is used in the style of an instrument. This also gives rise to the strange seeming song titles with which an attempt is made to reproduce a sound.

Her albums are concept albums dealing with the life and death of Raagoonshinnaah , the god of darkness and his fight against Amaraah , the god of light.
