Osmose Productions is a French independent label .
history
The label was founded in 1991 by the 23-year-old social worker Hervé Herbaut together with his then partner. The name of the label is based on the term osmosis to express that the label works in full harmony with the music. The label's first release was Worship Him by the Swiss band Samael in an edition of 1,000. In the first few years Herbaut worked full-time as a social worker until he made the label his main profession six years after it was founded.
In 1993 Herbaut was able to tie the Finnish black metal band Impaled Nazarene to the label, which he describes as one of the milestones in the company's history. In early 2001, Osmose and SPV signed a distribution agreement , as a result of which the label's complete catalog was available in North America. Since the mid-2000s, the label has been trying harder to sign bands outside of Black Metal.
In 2011 Osmose Productions announced that they would release the LP version of the album The Voice of Steel or Голос Сталі by the Ukrainian NSBM / pagan metal band Nokturnal Mortum , and in 2012 they would also reissue the other releases on vinyl. According to the Sturmglanz website, "Label boss and founder Hervé Herbaut made it clear that working with good black metal bands is more important to him than any sensitivities in certain German metal magazines".
